How to increase maximum upload size on WordPress

    Follow Updated : Created :

    By default Axcess uses the standard 2MB file upload on all Linux PHP servers.  However, for those clients who need to increase this size there are a number of ways you can do this.  For the purposes of this KB article we are providing the steps for those clients utilizing the WordPress Content Management System.

    1. In some cases you may increase the size of your upload by modifying the Theme Functions File:

    You may add the following code to your theme's functions file:

    @ini_set( 'upload_max_size' , '64M' );
    @ini_set( 'post_max_size', '64M');
    @ini_set( 'max_execution_time', '300' );

    This will increase the maximum upload size to 64MB.

    2. If you are unable to modify the theme's function file you can also create a PHP.INI file in the WordPress directory with the following code:

    upload_max_filesize = 64M
    post_max_size = 64M
    max_execution_time = 300

    This will have the same effect as adding the options to the theme's function file.
